the shops are full of sparkly things to buy...

So here we are again, another year has passed and Christmas is approaching fast. Everywhere you look there are sparkly things to buy.

Despite the fact that this is the 'festive season'  the shopping centres are full of frantic and grumpy people who are stressing themselves out trying to be perfect and forgetting that the real magic of Christmas is in the time we get to spend with the people we love.

Remember the last time you took a flight anywhere and the flight attendant told you to put on your oxygen mask before trying to help anyone else? Well, how would it be if we applied a little of that same logic to our Christmas preparation?

Take things easier this year and make sure that there is a little time built in to every trip to the shops, every mammoth parcel wrapping session and every card-writing marathon. Time to just breathe…make a cup of tea and put your feet up for ten minutes.

This year, why not make an event of putting up the tree and decking those halls with familiar decorations. Rediscover all the memories that those Christmas decorations bring back as you unpack the boxes from the loft. This is one of my favourite festive moments every year as I am reminded of lovely family Christmases and begin to look forward to the whole event.

Why not draft in some help from friends and family and have fun creating a beautiful, sparkly home ready to welcome all those festive guests?

Christmas isn’t about buying huge, unaffordable gifts that empty our bank accounts and leave us in debt till Easter. It’s about love and caring and spending time with people we love.

Nor do we need to consume our body weight in cheese and chocolate and shop as if the shops are going to close till he end of January.. I’m always fascinated by the amount of food that people are wheeling around in those rickety trollies at this time of year. Even if we have a sudden need to stockpile food, just in case, it’s worth bearing in mind that the shops are only closed for one day – that’s 24 hours before they reopen on Boxing Day when all the shopping frenzy starts again.

For myself, I thought this might be the perfect moment to stop all the rushing around, take a moment to breathe and take stock of the year just past.  To take a little time to say a heartfelt thank you to my family and friends.

I would also like to thank everyone I have worked with this year, it has been an honour and I wish you all a happy and restful Christmas, however you spend it.

If you would like to give the gift of confidence, stress management, weight loss or anything else to yourself or your loved ones, gift vouchers are available.
