Did Someone Mention Christmas??

10/19/2016

It seems like five minutes since the Christmas tree and all the lovely decorations came down and we started the New Year determined to make those changes and now, here we all are, approaching another festive season just around the corner.

How was it for you? Did you achieve all the goals you set out for yourself at the end of December? Regular readers of these articles will know that I don’t recommend making ‘make or break’ commitments at any time of year but especially not when we are all emerging from family festivities, when we have overstretched ourselves to buy mountains of gifts and when food and drink temptations lurk around every corner.

I always think it’s quite sad that we overshadow what can be a lovely time of year with frantic attempts at dieting and punishing sessions at the gym in the hope of wearing that lovely party outfit, that little black dress or smart suit.

We still have a few weeks in hand, we tell ourselves, a few weeks when we can get ourselves as slim as possible and into our fabulous party clothes just in time.

But what if there was another way and it didn’t involve punishing regimes or any kind of self flagellation….?
What if all you had to do was look at this whole thing through fresh eyes and change some of those old messages. Interested? I thought you would be

This can be the year when you really look forward to Christmas and focus on what it means to you, what gives you pleasure. It certainly isn’t the same thing for everyone and family groupings come in all varieties. What if you used these few weeks to really focus on you and your health, to become the best you?

Motivation can be really low at this time of year.  It’s getting colder, we are surrounded by short-term ideas for weight loss and begin to panic.  We see the advertisement or the article in our favourite magazine or newspaper, ‘Drop a Dress Size in 6 Weeks’ screams the headline.  That sounds so tempting doesn’t it? But hang on, isn’t that the same article they featured just before the summer, only then it was called   ‘Get Bikini Ready in 6 Weeks?’  Isn’t there something wrong with this picture?  What if you could just get off that diet treadmill once and for all? What if you could just stop it? That would be so liberating and it’s entirely possible. BUT you have to change those messages that have kept you stuck for more years than you can probably remember.

When you are on a ‘diet’, food is all you can think about but when you are eating, do you:
  • Focus on the food on your plate?
  • Load up your fork with food before you savour and enjoy the mouthful you have in your mouth?
  • Multi task around meal times - watching television or checking phone messages?
  • Eat slowly, eat mindfully and enjoy every morsel?

It’s hard, isn’t it?  Why not make this the year when you give yourself a break and let me help you change your relationship to food.

Gastric Band Hypnotherapy – suggests to your subconscious mind that you have had a gastric band fitted around your stomach. Many people report feeling fuller quicker and with less food as if their stomach has really been constricted.

The fitting of a virtual gastric band using hypnotherapy focuses on the subconscious mind and sessions work in two stages:
  1. We will work together to identify the root cause of excess eating. Together, we will identify why and when you eat and address any unhealthy thoughts or feelings around food, any old patterns of thinking about eating that may be affecting you now.
  2. Then I will carry out the Hypnotherapy treatment and work towards fitting your virtual gastric band. As this process does not involve surgery, there is no lengthy recovery process and no ‘down time’. It is a completely safe procedure.
