Many of our high street stores have already produced their annual glossy food brochures full of delicious and extremely tempting offerings that many of us struggle to resist, and as long ago as September we were being urged to stock up on massive tins of shortbread for the new year celebrations.
But, maybe, back in January, you decided that this was going to be your year. The one when you’d put all this feast and famine, detoxing and retoxing behind you forever. ‘Mindful eating’ was going to be your new habit your new way of being and you would never have to follow any six -week plan again….
How did that work for you? Did you get to June and decide you’d have to go on an emergency fast to fit in to your holiday clothes? Then, having lost that stone that you were so keen to get rid of, did you eat everything on the ‘all you can eat’ buffet on your all-inclusive holiday package thinking that you’d paid for it so you’d better get value for money?
I’m sure it won’t come as any surprise to learn that you’re certainly not alone. Studies show that fewer than 5% of people who lose weight on a calorie controlled diet keep that weight off permanently. Dieting disconnects you from your natural appetite so that you eat by the clock rather than when you are actually hungry and you may deprive yourself of a food group that suddenly becomes all you can think of. To test that out for yourself, just try not to think of a blue elephant…..I bet that’s all you could think of. Well the same is true of bread, pasta, chocolate or whatever else you decide to deny yourself. It becomes all you want and you fixate on being able to eat those lovely things again, just as soon as you finish this pesky diet.
How would it feel to change all this feast and famine nonsense forever? Just imagine changing those habits for the rest of your life. Living a life where there are no forbidden foods, where you listen to your own body and it’s hunger signals and can learn to stop when you are full rather than when the plate is completely empty. When you can reach for that little black dress or smart suit anytime you like and know that it will be a perfect fit.
Hypnotherapy and coaching with NLP can really change habits and change them forever and it’s much easier than you could ever imagine. To find out more contact Francine@Orrganise and remember whatever you are doing on the 25th of December, have a lovely festive period.
